Buying a couple of Heng Long tanks but any tips?

Post by The_Blue_Dragon »

Hi people,
Me and my uncle are looking at getting a couple of Heng Long tanks just to thrash about on my nans back garden. We haven't decided what were going to get yet but were just going to start with the basic plastic parts models then slowly upgrade. I want to do this as its cheaper to first get going also I like the idea of modifying my tank myself.

But before we order anything is there any tips you would recommend? also how long will the stuck battery last that comes with them?
Also what is usually the first thing to break?

If your thinking of the long term and upgrading I say look at getting a tiger as there is bucket load of upgrade parts available where as a Pershing or bulldog only has a hand full of upgrades available.

Straight out of the box I think the Pershing and bulldog are better but that go against what I've said above.

Battery should get about 30 to 40 minutes on full charge if the smoke machine is switched off. Just bear in mind the supplied charger is rubbish and takes over 4 hours to charge it so I would recommend a decent charger. Anything with auto shut off and Tamiya style plug should be ok I think I picked one up for £7 and charges battery in hour and half.

Regarding what breaks first is hard to say I would suggest just playing with it and wait until it breaks as although the forum is great you soon be reading topics on how to upgrade make better etc. try not to get sucked in as to be honest I don't think half of the things I've done has made any difference. So enjoy playing with or else it be in bits on the bench waiting for parts!

Also there is a number of not so great vendors out there so before you buy maybe post a link to what your looking at some one might be able to point you to a better vendor or price.

the newer the relese, the better the design......the new sherman is very good, so it the pantherG and king tiger. The kv 1 is also a great runner..........if you are planing on running the tank on grass, you will have more fun with the front drive tranks...the rear drive tanks like to suck the grass into the drive wheels.

hope that helps

Dragon it is pointless me telling you what to buy, you will have to decide that yourself but if you go to the approved vendors site you will not only find every tank and every upgrade ( the only limit being the size of your pockbook ) but you will not get ripped off, I think you are about to disappear into the same black hole that has trapped all of us, get ready to sell the house and children there is no going back. shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Ok thanks, I've had a tiger before and got some upgraded lights for it but I can't remember where from, I love adding lights to things hahaha. They were the type with little slits in. If i can find them will they fit in the bulldog placements?

Sorry for all the questions I just want to know everything before I choose
