Another compliment on your chipping. I've never been able to master it so subtle is the only way I can go so it's nice to see someone far more talented than me use the same restraint

Normally I'm a heavy weatherer but in this case trying to be less-is-more is the order of the day.
Still to sort the tracks out and add light pigment to the lower but the upper is effectively done.
I accidentally made & used a filter/wash/glaze...........that meaning, I used an old filter bottle to stick a figure on while I painted it, forgot it was ballasted with water, chucked some turps in it and a splosh of German Wash for dark yellow (but barely any) and shook it.
Thinking I had reconstituted the filter residue..............
Was a smelly & dirty water that went on with a wide brush in vertical sweeps down then up, & wouldnt you know, it damn well worked.
The water content carried the residue & enabled it to be very very disipated & random in depth & density which showed once the water evaporated.
No cunning plan, no strategy, pure blind fluke
Sometimes it great to turn a ^&$%-up into a win

Stunning work. I like your dunkelgelb very much because it's not that "dunkel" I think it looks better that way than the off the shelf dunkelgelb from various brands that really look too dark to my taste (even more after some filters/weathering).
Your chipping is spot on, very well balanced, we can see it but it's not overdone!

The Gelb is a blend, very lightened, devoid of any green hue. I do need to make a new batch, base ingredient is XF-88 Dark Yellow 2 mixed with MiG 20005 and 20010 as they were too low in volume to use alone so bunged it all together, added XF-57 Buff and stirred !!
Keeping in mind these things were new for the Kursk battle, looked after a lot, and only trained in for a relatively short time.
Not much paint degradation but a lot of crew traffic on the roof & engine deck.
I reckon it’s enough

I had no idea you could mix Tamiya with MiG paints as Tamiya are not true acrylics, but it seems to work well!

Yeah chipping is enough no need to make it look like a wreck!

Tow cables fitted.
Had to be shortened a wee bit which is easy enough with a drill to remove the glued end slugs out of the ferrule.

Painted with remnants of spray bombs TS 38 and TS4, then brushed with straight XF-63 German Grey until saturated.
The ferrules and loop eyes were touched up with dunklegelb then blended then washed.
Bent to shape & spot painted any exposed copper showing & went over them with track wash MiG 1002.
Set in place with spots of gel super glue where required & left the front ends secured only by the clip on shackles so I can access inside for inevitable maintenance.

The paint just bounces off them ?!!
I always burnish them with a flame burner before paint
