I just saw a guy post this last night on one of my Facebook RC Tank groups. He is based in China and was typing in Mandarin so communication wasn't strong but he did say that his project is scratch hand built, no 3d printing. I didn't get what he used as a base but I'm sure you can figure out more than I. Anyway don't know if this is a good representation but thought I'd share since if I didn't see you building it I would have completely ignored it.

Finally found some time for tanking today. Was playing with ideas for a winch for this thing. Was testing out turret rotators from Tamiya and HL, but felt that even with a decent diameter drum, line speed would be too slow. Ended up modifying another airsoft unit. If you want to see how I got it this far, just look up my Priest build. viewtopic.php?t=32967 bottom of page 2.
I drilled the gear and shaft and epoxied a pin in it.
If the spring pin is pulled the shaft can be moved outward to allow the cable to be free spooled.
I added bearings to both sides. Tomorrow will tell if there will simply be a spool or a third bearing outside the spool.

Now thats some smart-ass work !!

On to some drum work. Rope area is 21mm (.84") wide by 37mm (1.46") tall. Drilled and taped for 3mm set (grub) screws. Caps were pinned and epoxied to the 12.7mm (1/2") aluminum base. If you are curious to the odd numbers, it was simply an eyeball job. I did do a test on the winch and it runs smoothly and oddly, much more quiet than the two I built for the Priest.

I have the mount nearly complete, still want to build a cover for the open airsoft unit. Have not made the opening in the front top of turret (which is what I'll start next). Then will reassemble the rig a do a test, so with luck the next post will include a video of testing the winch. The free wheel system works great and gives me a simple way to wind and unwind the cable. Down side is the clip is hidden in the hull. But to reconfigure the cable routing, my guess is the hull will need to be off anyway (especially the drag line out the front of the hull).
The speaker is below the mesh under the winch drum.

Very timidly...embarrassed to ask since the skill you demonstrate here is way beyond my abilities (and machining)...but is that real steel cable? Should it be? Regardless, I am astounded by such clever improvisation and handiwork. I watch his build in awe.

No it is cord with vulcanized rubber imbedded. It came from an overheated and then broken mower deck drive belt. They rarely self destruct in this fashion, but I ended up with several feet. of the remnants.

And yes the real stuff was steel cables, same with tow ropes and most all cabling in WWII.

The cable "came from an overheated and then broken mower deck drive belt." Egad! More ingenuity. I doubt that will break just lifting the boom. Far less creatively, I resorted to very light steel cable from Amazon for the winch on my slowly-progressing FAMO project.
