This is what I have done to each of my HL M4A3 road wheels (about 112 times) to give them a look of rubber as opposed to shiny plastic. Shaft is a 1/4" and is a perfect fit (6.35mm). The gook on the sand paper is from this tire only!



Here is the spare parts that will go on top. Still plenty of other tools, pulleys, stop blocks, stand off bars and yet more.



Working on the front pintle mount (the rear mount will be similar) and starting the roller fairlead.

Your milliput weld lines look great Eric, that's something that scares me everything I have to add some on my models !

Yes his welds are admirable. I will be trying weld seams/beads for the first time for this build and I'm a bit anxious.

Do research others welds too. I've have seen some impressive work here (my stuff looks like a six year old's attempt). I saw one thread where the welds were bought. So many ways to do these and great examples on this forum. I really like Mr. Bix's weld work.

Started the winch fairlead with a roller.



Herr Doc I can assure you the bolt is only temporary in building roller fairlead.



Not that is is necessary but all rollers do rotate.

Mr. Bix's hot iron screwdriver welding is masochistic on several levels in my opinion.

I'm down for it. Been studying my modeling videos.

Good point! But his results are fantastic! Keep looking. I'm sure you will find an alternative to his and my works.

I just saw a guy post this last night on one of my Facebook RC Tank groups. He is based in China and was typing in Mandarin so communication wasn't strong but he did say that his project is scratch hand built, no 3d printing. I didn't get what he used as a base but I'm sure you can figure out more than I. Anyway don't know if this is a good representation but thought I'd share since if I didn't see you building it I would have completely ignored it.
