I tried my hand at weathering using Tamiya's weathering pastel kits, variously using it in solid forms to create streaks and wetted down to work larger areas and small corners:


Got started simulating mud stains on the turret rear hatch


I mended the decal melting boo-boo by brushing on some black soot and sealing it with clear coat. I added mud streaks and rust streaks to the top of the turret


Added weathering kit Soot to the top of the exhaust stacks

Great looking Panther. My Grandfather was in one of those during the war.

The best installation of an infra red system I have seen was actually built into a tank commander figure on a Sherman tank. This was at the Hyde tank meet Manchester (held monthly) the gentleman in question was of the same opinion as me. Why spend all your time painting and super detailing your tank only to have a large black mushroom sticking out of the commanders hatch?

Fair point, sir, and its one that I wish could have been better executed by having IR receivers placed both in the turret as well as in the hull to be more realistic. But for the sake of consistency and ease of retrofit, I suppose this is the easier way.
