Hi there Saxondog
RE. Supersmokers; if you dont mind me asking, I would take three! hands not so good for this small work! That's if you manage to sort something out? Hope you don't mind me asking?
Hope you didn't have too much damage in that twister!

Guys this is the type and brand of resistor that works,Dan tested many, but this one will last. Also remember the matt is Kevlar, which helps to retain the fluid without becoming hard and less absorbent. More to follow.cheers Blake

Hi Blake,

Thanks for all the inforamation. Just want to add the 8.2ohm resistor I take it that is directly connected to the battery supply and not throught the RX18 like the standard smoke units?

Yes,the resistor draws full voltage. But the fan if used must keep some air moving or it will get to hot. Also why the Kevlar cloth is used it resist heat and retains the fluid.Another issue is the fluid,I'll post the MSDS sheet on the fluid,it is the same type stage fog machines use.

Part of the issue with shipping the units to the UK was the fluid, but with the MSDS sheet it is allowed by customs and is safe, not to drink but it does not burn or produce a flame. More to come, still waiting on Phill@rctankwars to call back,he is really busy though.cheers Blake

Here's a link to the kevlar material I bought.

http://www.homeofpoi.co.uk/shop/listItems/Wicks-KEVLAR

I bought 1m of 50mm x 1.6mm. I just then pick the threads apart to leave you with lots of string like pieces.

Shipping is from New Zealand so took about a week to arrive.

Thanks for all the info Saxondog.

I've put my project on hold for a day or so, because of a poorly size project box :problem:
I've spend a few more quid and bought some more stuff from ebay.

I was reluctant to try the proportional circuit diagram as I was kinda stepping into the unknown and I don't like to do that. Too many things could go wrong and I would never fathom why.
At the moment there are two directions I can take this..One is to continue spending more and more money and maybe investing in a Heng long proportional smoke unit and reverse engineer it to my own purposes. Or to just stop and enjoy my tank for what it is and maybe at a later date when I know a bit more about electronics (Computers are my field..not electronics :D ) I could continue.

To date, since I bought the tank..It has spent most of its time in bits, I've never taken it anywhere to actually enjoy it. I think I'm overloading myself with.. I could do this...or try this...or maybe this might work... :( I guess you could say that I'm getting fed up.

I'm gonna fix my smoke unit tomorrow and I'll think i'll leave it there for a while, not having a proportional smoke unit is not the end of the world and so far the amount of money I've spent on the tank and including its purchase price I could have bought a new ATI 6950 for my computer :haha:
