Hi JohnF,

I think I asked this before the 1:6 Panzer II I take it that was the pre-assembled DX10 version? My brother and I were looking into perhaps bringing in some 1:6 items to sell but were not sure how popular the Panzer II would be.

I felt the cost of the assembled Dragon Panzer II might be too prohibitive but Dragon have released a kit form which is significantly cheaper.

I say my brother and I but I tend to stick with the 1:16 items whereas he seems to be quite keen on the 1:6 scale. He has some DID MG34's come in made from metal, including brass bullets which look really excellent.

I am not sure how popular a Panzer 2 would be as it was not really a 'fighting' tank with only a 20mm gun BUT the Panzer 3 in kit form could well be, it saw service for a conciderable time and had a 'real' gun at 50mm.....can I be brave and please ask the inevitable question ........How much would a 1/6th scale Metal Panzer 3 Kit Cost.......?

Any ideas where you can get the kit version for the PII and roughly the price difference? Probably prefer it as a kit anyway.

I do not know your skill level or equipment available but Armortek did a Panzer IV kit a few years ago but they also offered plans to scratch build a Panzer IV. It might be possible to obtain a copy of these plans by advertising on the Armortek forum. I have seen some of the build results achieved from the plans and they were very good.
I did'nt know Dragon was producing the Pnzer II in kit form. I think the Panzer II could be a good start point but to really feel you have a tank you need to think Panzer III or bigger.
Also 1/6 scale tends to get expensive. I presume you will need tracks, working suspension, Drive gear. Will the plastic kit stand up to motorization.

Have a look at Saxondog's 1/6 Tiger build. At least with the Tiger 1 it was possible to get the tracks and drivegear sorted. The Tiger is basically a simple construction. Flat panels. I'm thinking of building one in MDF and aluminium sheet for display. Have you considered advertising for an Armortek in need of serious work. I have seen some seriously neglected models that were brought back to life. I will certainly draw out the panels for the Panzet IV when I get it.

I would recomend you seriuosly think about how much it is going to cost to make the Panzer II a runner.

thanks for the reply, I wish we could design, build and market our own kits but unfortunately not!

I have seen a metal Panzer III but I believe it was a limited edition and very expensive.

The items we were looking at were mainly Dragon, DID kits and "action figure" sets. Dragon have a number of new items out soon, including the Panzer II and British Universal carrier in 1:6 scale.

I am also quite keen on the DID 1:6 weapons which are normally made from metal and have moving parts.

Abo the Panzer II Ausf B is due to retail in the US and I would presume world wide in July, the prices I have seen range from $210 to $259 USD. Expect to pay up to $100 in shipping and include the possibility of 20% VAT (no customs duty).

A quick google should bring up a number of retailers in the USA and I believe 1999.jp also have it for preorders.

Currently my brother stocks some Dragon 1:6 items and is only really getting into the 1:6 items but he has been harassing me about using the people I know to source more items.

thanks for that info, sounds a fair bit more reasonable as a kit, have to keep my eyes open for them being on sale here to cut down on the postage methinks! Not thought much about 1/6th before but some of the weapons etc are interesting as shelf items if nothing else. after seeing that website for a club that specialises in 1/6th diorama's ( http://www.vonabt.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ) been blown away by thier work ever since. thanks again.
