Re: Captured Tiger 1
I found this on a Polish forum which might help;
" I am not talking about 2 Sturmtigers, but regular Tigers I. On 31st July to Warsaw arrived 5 Tigers from "Totenkopf" Division which were returned to the unit after repairs. They stucked in the city for around the week and was used by Germans in combat. What is interesting that the 4th August two of them were fought on Ochota district. One of them was distroyed by uprisers by Panzerfaust and Polish captured the second. Tank crew was scared by the faith of first one that when another Panzerfaused which missed their tank but hit the electric pole that felt down on the tank so they abandoned it. Seems that they were not combat crew. Anyway Polish captuted fully opperational Tiger. Unfortunately the next day one of uprisers took the tank for a ride which ended with broken claches. Leter Germans just in case blew up the broken than using fot it Goliath."
Look forward to the end result.

The entire British Empire was built on cups of tea ... and if you think I'm going to war without one, mate, you're mistaken.
Re: Captured Tiger 1
Shane,
Thank you. One of the sources I found had very similar details. It did not say how the Tigers were disabled though. The electric pole story sounds very possible.
I will probably start work on the turret later this year - maybe September - and finish up the Tiger (too busy now).
I'll post the build notes and a final historical article based on the references that I, you and others have found.
Thanks again,
Dan

Re: Captured Tiger 1
From what I read, 2 Tigers were destroyed and one abandoned by it's crew nearby. I have some friends into WW2 history so I'll see what I can ask them about it. A number of tanks from this Tiger to Panthers and light tanks were captured by the Polish AK during the uprising.
