ok then, thats the spot washes applied using a mix of black and burnt umber oil paints 20 / 80, the decals put on and then a bit of micro sol and micro set to soften the decals and pull them tight onto the paintwork so you dont get any silver edges or peeling to the decals,  first coat of matt varnish done and a very gentle drybrush with humbrol desert yellow, the best kind of varnish i know of is ronseal outdoor clear matt or enamel varnish, after the second  coat is on you get a dead flat finish which is what i want, but the only drawback is the 3 / 4 days between each coat but in my humble opinion working on a bigger kit you need things to blend better, the bigger it is more painting mistakes can be seen, pics so far.........

that's the first dust coat on, next using dark grey mixed with black i put on the first round of scrapes and scratches, these don't have to be perfect as i will enhance them with more layers of lighter and darker colours to show different depths to the damaged paintwork.

Nice job on the kubel Oz and thanks for the tip on ronseal varnish been looking for a decent varnish that stays matt and doesn't turn white ::)

Cheers Ian

almost finished now, thats the scrapes touched up a bit and the final dust layers put on and a bit of chalk pastel here and there and one more coat of ronseal, on top of this i gave a light dusting of mig pigments just to tone and blend things together, pics so far.......
