Thank you for the photos and information, John. I was worried about the KV-1 idler as well, and REALLY hope that Daryl will offer this upgrade through Bob at ETO along with his other parts. That man is a master of retrofit engineering for Tamiya tanks! -Mike

sassgrunt, I'm pretty sure Daryl Turner will offer these parts in a production set, eventually. And that was part of his plan, me mailing him my assembled KV hull, so he could continue prototyping parts. The serious road block to any future plans is that the kit is not that popular.
The demand is almost none existent for either the KV kit or any after market KV parts. The main reason I am building the model is to have a foe for my German armor, but the more I explore the build, the better I like this kit.
It is a simple kit to build and like the Tamiya Sherman kit, I think it is a good first rc tank kit, in my opinion. Plus it does run pretty good built stock, and the expense of the upgrade is not really a must have, unless your going to abuse your model in TBU back yard fights.

Leningrad KV-1 Street Fighter Build & Finish

Many of the KV's were used in city fighting so the weathering consisted more of dirt and dust as opposed to heavy mud, tree scratches etc. The road dust & streaking is in the tones typically seen in an urban setting as opposed to the heavy browns and muds colors that would be encountered on the steppes.
Backyard running, testing and tweaking next after everything gets good and dry.
Enjoy, John

Thank you very much. A few things left to do next month and the model is growing on me, as I have never been a real fan of Soviet WWII Armor.

Yes, I watched your KV-1 El Mod video. Great job, impressive sound effects inside a combat hard, good looking tank.
