I would like to take this back a step or two, it would be okay to use a tamiya
full option control unit in a 21st century Toys Stuart with a 12 volt battery as
long as you have a fan to cool the unit?

How close to the unit does the fan have to be from the unit?
What if you use say an 8.4volt 8 cell pack with the tamiya unit in the Stuart?
Thank you,
Panzerman

hi Panzerman

it will run on the lower voltage but it's motors are designed for 12v and it'll runs slower and has less power than it should. I tried mine on HL boards and it run for a while but eventually I blew the board.

My son has been running a 1/6 Stuart with Tamiya 1/16th Sherman electics for several years without any problems. He has not even fitted any cooling fans and has kept the 12 v battery. It is an easy conversion.
I would suggest you acquire a cheap Sherman from Hong Kong, the States or Germany. You could always sell the rest on evil bay
