Very many thanks Blake for all of the info, I shall proceed now I know what to expect. Quite a bit of messing about to replace the unit that gives the most problems. Rather than screw the replacement back in would something like velcro be strong enough to hold the new unit in place incase this happens again? It would certainly make things easier and quicker.

The new unit that you have developed, will you be marketing it at all?

Well I'm glad I could help.I purchased the Asiatam hull for my first tank ever,a Heng-long Tiger and have been very happy with the whole tank. But that hull makes a lot of difference, solid, tuff, durable never have I had a single problem with the hull.I have done some custom engineering,I needed early model wheels and the axles were designed for late model only so I tapped and threaded the control arms and used shoulder bolts for the axles. If you start having trouble with the wheels check for the small set screws that are on each control arm.As fo your smoker, some silly putty will hold it in place.Just put a small ball of putty at each mounting hole, push down and it's not going anywhere. As for our design we are talking with vendors now but if that does not work out we will post the design here,DAN has done a great draft of the smoker and anyone could build the unit. The heating element can be used in the H/L smoker you have just purchased and most likely this will be posted here as it will work much better than the stock element.here is a link to the thread where we have been working on this idea of a better smoker, page 5 and 6 have alot of info. Let me know if I can help. Blake http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1182927" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; P.S.I will be posting the test data here so everyone can change their smoker element to the new style resistor type that does not fail,it also uses a KEVLAR wick.
