You were warned !!!!!!
Re: You were warned !!!!!!
Thanks Pete what I did was get new microswitches from Maplins and replaced the rubbish Asiatam one with a Maplins one. I then wired it up ( not using the elevation side ) following the wiring guide you were kind enough to supply. In theory it should have worked fine. Not sure what went wrong just know it now looks expensive to sort it out. I will test the Tiger 1 recoil system by pluging it into my Dad's Tamiya KT MFU if it works on that I will know the MFU is shot on the recoil function. Once again thanks for the help and advice mate. All the best for now

Re: You were warned !!!!!!
I don't have a link i'm afraid. I know there's the guarantee, but i've never needed to personally use it. I'm sure Tamiya must have a contact number or customer service department in the UK.Tankie wrote:Rik, i've heard that Tamiya replace faulty MFU's but I don't see on their website or The Hobby Company (their UK agent) what the process is - could you provide the link? Mine has no left turret drive since the elevation wire jammed in the motor teeth!
cheers

Re: You were warned !!!!!!
Well guy's I have emailed The Hobby Company Ltd and am awating there reply with baited breath. I will also be conducting my tests to confirm a knackered MFU or recoil unit tomorrow afternoon as I put all my receiver and other batteries on trickle charge to make sure it not a power fault, and I have to go on a training course for a couple of hours tomorrow morning. So I will post what the outcome is tomorrow evening. Once again thanks for all the advice and understanding it's good when you realise you are NOT the first to make a mess of things and you WON'T be the last but if you do someone will be there to offer advice and sympathy. Cheers and once again thanks everyone

Re: You were warned !!!!!!
oops... hope you get it sorted. Keep and eye on ebay as Hobby Co will be expensive.
Re: You were warned !!!!!!
Well after testing with my Dad's KT MFU I can confirm my MFU recoil system is shot ,knackered ,stuffed as they say. However the upside is the elevation, rotation and the battle system still function, therefore not a total loss. I can live without the recoil for now as it will not be an issue. So as I said " you have been warned" don't fool round with Tamiya electronics it's real heartbreaking when it goes wrong
. All the best for now

PS still no reply from Hobby Co on the Tamiya MFU lifetime warranty question. Did you get anything back from them BREL ?

Re: You were warned !!!!!!
Tankman: Hate to ask, but for future reference, do you remember EXACTLY how you hooked up the recoil motor wiring (diagram please) so that we don;t make the same mistake?
I was considering Tammy electronics at one point, but they cost a lot and I did not want to fry anything.
Thanks.

Re: You were warned !!!!!!
Here you go guy's this is the thread that I used to wire my Tamiya/Asiatam unit up with. http://rctankwarfare.co.uk/forums/viewt ... =80&t=4365" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I will post some pictures up of the mods I made to the Asiatam unit later on or tomorrow. Just be carefull when playing round with any electronics as I have cooked both HL and now Tamiya units while trying things. In future I will get someone who knows what the hell they are doing to check things over BEFORE I connect them to anything even resembling a control unit
. All the best and happy tanking

Re: You were warned !!!!!!
Before giving up on your DMD, check with volt meter . I am guessing at the stuff below based on HL circuits.
White should (?) be + volt ~5 (on all the time or maybe a timed circuit)
Green: ground when MG fired
Blue: all time ground
Basically, you could ground the micro switch to any ground as it just functions to keep the motor running to 'return to battery(gunbattery)' position and then is cut off.
Green would act as temporary ground to get the recoil motion started so that the micro switch circuit can take over.
You just need to check the 'temporary' power-ground circuit..the rest can be constructed from a seperate power supply . Since you already did test in another tank, it probably is shot...
Pop off the cover and see if a micro diode or resistor is cracked...might be replaced...
