i was thinking of getting a rx-18 unit but after reading some reviews about it they seem to overheat but the rx-14 board seems to be better what do you think

for 25$ and a 7$ cooling fan, you can probably do no harm w/rx18. I have four. The three that came to me in good working order are still going strong. One even tows a ~15lb tank (proper gearing required)

RX18 uses theoretically better drive FETs than RX14, the problem is cooling. Definitely take the lid off the RX18, make some holes in it and fit a fan, and assuming standard motors i'd also fit a 3Afuse in line with each motor - fuses work out a lot cheaper than boards.

i have a stug 3 which i havent started yet it has a new metal gearbox and rx-18 was thinking of putting them in the KT as funds are a bit short at the moment and i could replace them later in the stug so will the gearbox fit the KT

Stug has shorter shaft length as far as I know. It is not easy to add length to the shaft. Look for HL tiger or JP gearbox...might be closer fit.
