I hope I have found the problem matt i amm putting the tracks back on to test the gearboxes with out the upper hull
update I connected a battery to the Steering motor and everything appears to be in order so will put my Leo back together in the next few days and the see if all is well with the tank
Re: Leopard 2a6 re-build
the gear box is OK, the problem started when I put the metal idlers on the Tank, so I put the tank up on blocks and ran the tank looking closley at the tracks and wheels and noticed that the idlers were not turning, so they are the problem the right hand one is catching the first swing arm on that side as well as the mountings behind the idler and the left one is catching the mountings behind it,
having had another look at the picture of the idlers on the AfV site, I find out that I have assembled the idlers incorectly because AFV did not send any assembley instructions for the idlers, so I am going to take them apart and rebuild them.

Re: Leopard 2a6 re-build
glad you found the problem stew
i plan to install the metal idler mounts (strengthening things) but not the actual metal idlers as the are stupendously expensive and imho not needed lol
ill be fitting the:
metal swing arms (done)
metal pinions (still need)
metal torsion bar mounts (bought)
metal hull bracing (still need)
metal idler bracers (still need)
cheers guys,
Matt

Re: Leopard 2a6 re-build
why do you need metal pinions they should be fitted to the motors by the guy you bought the tank off
My leo is fixed now and spins like a top (well almost)

Re: Leopard 2a6 re-build
ok matt I got it know
when you say metal idler bracer I take it you mean the metal idler tension adjuster
