BB barrel will not fit the recoil unit unless you modify the barrel, the topfblend, and the mount.

check out my build pics.

Ok,so threading the barrel shouldn't be problem, can you give me any
more details of the mod and what do you mean by topfblend.I did see
your pics but couldn't make out the details.

it is not 'just' threading. Topfblend is the 'cast' armour piecs around the barrel (which on HL models has two posterior extension arms used for mounting

If you want recoil:
1) you have to drill out the topfblend so the BB barrel slides into it.
2)Then, you have to drill into the BB barrel breech end and find a small aluminum tube that fits on the inside.
3)Then cut this new tube to appropriate length(not easy if you want it all to line up).
4) Then hollow out a segment of this new tube so you can pass the strobe light and wires into barrel.
4b) then the aluminum barrel extension is attached by means of a small screw INSIDE the recoil mechanism to the sliding reciever (black plastic barrel with arm attaching to outside recoil spring), rather than attaching by threading (this is my technique..you can do it however)
5) Then you have to build a brace to support the recoil mechanism(if you have the one NOT made for the JP) so that it fits the elevation mechanism.
6) glue on upper recoil unit spring guide
7) And to make it work appropriately, you have to make internal mods which are too much to go into here, but can be found on the RCCommand web site.

Easier to buy a tank with recoil/flash built in OR the right barrel and recoil unit

CLICK this link adn check out the pics:

look closely and you can see the new aluminum tube extension and wires goes into the barrel.
