Upon rereading the message, and if I understood it correctly, our friend would like to modify the existing system while preserving the existing mechanical components. Indeed, there was (years ago) a modification to make it more realistic, but I can't find it.
Spot on current goal is like you mentioned above. I don't want to drop an additional 40 usd on barrel/launcher combo. To add the recoil feature only to receive a product that's not properly or entirely complete (missing appendages) and loose bb feature, haha I just want all the bells and whistles.

That's what I thought, and personally I would advise you to do this, provided it's adaptable to your situation? Just ask.

If that's all he's after since he's in the states he should order from MotionRC or Toucan hobby.
OP- Be sure if you order from Toucan to pick from their US warehouse selection. IF you order from Motion shipping is free for anything over $99 so you might want to stock up on other parts to make it worth it.

Or you could just do this and add a TK7.1 board and have realistic barrel recoil. It's on Sale now-

Yup that's what I've concluded, I'm just going to buy recoil units and "jerry rig" a bracket for the barrel and recoil unit.
That's my gripe haha, the recoil launcher doesn't come with the screws and bracket needed. Time to experiment and fabricate.

Yes, but in principle we reuse the same fixings and screws; it's always delivered without accessories or instructions, but there are plenty of posts and help on this forum
