YeeHa! I have explained a few times here on RCTW the rather challenging circumstance under which, 14 years ago, I retired from a fine career. Yet I nonethless wholeheartedly recommend retirement. jarndice has it right "You thought you were busy before; well you ain't seen nothing yet." It's the retired person's mystery: "How did I have enough time to accomplish anything?"

It's time to create a "Tube Oldies" thread
I noticed that the "youngest" in our club is 40 years old......
Young people are more interested in hanging out on their smartphones.....Pepsi generation.....
And the worst thing is that they don’t know how to do ANYTHING with their hands, they can only buy ready-made...

Congratulations! Retirement--it's everthing it's cracked up to be!

I hope it affords you the time to do everything you would like to do.

A bittersweet--but great--feeling on that last day when I logged off my company computer, closed it up and slid it into the laptop bag for the last time.

Onward!

Mike.

Congratulations Mr. Wolf to get to this milestone .I too am in the first year of retirement. Don't know about you guys but I felt guilty at first because I did not have to get up after the crack of dawn and get on with it. One of my sons told me the other day that I am now waiting for God. I told him to urinate off ! .Regards John.

Congratulations Painless!! (Sorry that I didn't see this until now; I was on travel). Like you, I figured that in retirement I'd finally get to finish some of the many boxed-and-shelved projects I had waiting. And while that's somewhat true; I have found that in the meantime I have also acquired others to add to the list - which drives me further down the rabbit hole.

I do tell people that the worst day retired is better than the best day working, especially is commuting to and from was a part of that. Do enjoy this next part of your life!

Congratulations on making it this far! I am hugely envious of the prospect of time for things you enjoy which you've earn in your half century of hard graft!

Good luck with the retirement. General Motors took all of it's support out of India in 2014 because the contractors never really fixed anything. When I started in 2014, there were literally 5000 Windows server tickets in the queue everyday. A year and a half later when I switched jobs, we were down to 50/day since we actually fixed the problems the contractors never did. Most big companies have tried the India thing already and already moved on to better solutions.

Gentlemen!
Came in from Running Errands and getting soaked in Thunderstorms to find more Well Wishes! You are all a Crackerjack Bunch of Guys. The First Day was dealing with Stuff that the Work Week did not allow me to. Made some Headway then got taken out to Retirement Dinner by Grifter! The Time rang Sweeter for some reason and I really Enjoyed it! Sass has the right of it, better than the Best Day at Work!
Thank you all,
Painless
