My
thanks to
tankme,
Pavel, and
Bix for correcting
my overreacting. I have no idea why I have never encountered that sound in an Taigen/Torro AFV. I have heard it with other electric gizmos, and I guess I concluded on the basis of ignorance (
argumentum ad stupidium
) that it was an electric motor straining.

Silly Taigen. Course, I guess they don't want to say anything about their lagging behind the times electronics.
Mike.

In my utopian world the next H/L unit we'll call V8.1 will have all the features of the 7 but allow a removable/replaceable sound module which Taigen have got bang on right.
Imagine, better Sherman sounds, better WW2 Russian sounds, different HL210/230 sounds, and the current high quality modern options.
Be a good thing.
Actually, has anyone tried plugging a Taigen sound module into the V7.1 to see if anything works?
I for one have not, just thought of that. Maybe an accidental solution just waiting to be discovered.

It would have to be a v9 for HL as the 1/8th HL Abrams has an 8.0 system in it...
But I agree with others when I wonder why Torro/Taigen haven't kept up in the electronics game. @TigerMouse1 By the way, the V2 system probably won't fix your issue. My Sturmtiger has the V3 in it.

Yet another good reason to get a quality aftermarket board.

Yeah I have their 1/8 Abrams, it has the TK 8.1. It’s a carbon copy of the TK 7.1, but for their 1/8 and 1/6 scale models.
Going to have to wait for TK 9.1 or something I guess. While we’re wishing, I wish they would give you the option to use your own PWM receiver.

Understood. But it's worth a try. Also, when I get the V2, I want to compare it to the V3 and decide which one to keep.
