If you decide to just buy and repair, I am sure it would work just fine. LEDs tend to have a large working range as to volts (within reason). Since both come from HL, I'm reasonably sure they are compatible (if not the same part).mochiP wrote: ↑Fri Jul 28, 2023 4:54 pmOkay, I did check and try both ways and it still doesn't work.
BUT here is some progress, I tried installing the Tank headlight cable (LED3) into the LED5 (machine gun) and firing, and the headlight blinked like a machine gun!! so now I can assume my machine gun LED is busted?
and can I just find another LED light for the machine gun?
like I said, on the website I found it said fit for 6.0, 6.1 but it looked Identical to me. Do you think just this LED can do a replacement? will it work since it's just an LED? or does it need something specific for the 7.0? Thanks!

Thank you everyone!
the thing is I already disassemble it and upgraded the 360 degree turret, so I don't think I can return this to the seller.
Also I got comfirmed from the spare part shop that the LED that I wanted it will work with 7.0
So now I only need to wait for the part to arrived, replace the LED and complete this tank also do some weathering and touching up more details!

Yes: your testing certainly suggests that the problem is just with the LED itself.

- I do agree that the seller should take responsibility, and you would be right to request a replacement or refund.
- However, even shipping the tank back and sending a replacement involves the chance of damage in shipping. (This is a greater risk for me in the US than for you in Thailand.) And, as jarndice suggests, since you have opened the tank (and I would most certainly have done so, too) the seller could try to claim the defect is your fault. What is more, I am so accustomed to some slight defects in tanks, I have learned to make minor repairs.
- Depending on your patience and persistence, you might ask the seller to send a replacement tank. Or you might ask the seller for a replacement LED for the machine gun.
- This easiest way might well be to just buy and try the LEDs you show in the photo.
- Lastly, here are some LED machine guns, none expensive, listed by one seller who has done well by me in the US, although this seller is much closer to home for you: https://www.toucanhobby.com/search?q=ma ... ix%5D=last In fact you might contact the seller and ask if the firm has an LED specific to the Merkava.
Re: Hello, I'm very new to RC tank here!
OKAY, since I started this.
After all the inspections and finding a solution online, the reason why there's no flashing light when firing a machine gun is because IT'S NOT A MACHINE GUN, the looks like an "LED" bulb in front of the tank is actually an INFRARED bulb(I notice this because it flashed in the Camera when firing cannon but not my own eyes)
I mistook my own Merkava Tank because I looked into this tank clip which actually a heavily modified tank and they shoot light from that part, so yeah that's why.
https://youtu.be/MOmmDdG1dx4
the stock Merkava looks like it doesn't come with a machine gun light, you need to buy an upgrade M2 Machine gun part on top of the tank and it will flash a light when firing,
which I did buy that part, connect, firing and it flashed. It confused me so much at first that I need to take it apart again.
And that comes to my second mistake, the LED5 wire that is connected to the board is not LEAD to an LED light in front of the tank, but an empty socket on top of the tank FOR THE UPGRADE PART.
And why have I mistaken it? because both LED and Infrared use the same red and white wire and are also wired close to the same position, it's my bad I'm not looking into it deep enough and assumed it doesn't work.
So, nothing has broken so far, it's just my silliness, at least now I'm better at disassembling the tank and putting it together so many times, and I finally know what part did what.
I'll take all this as my mistake, I learned a lot from it, thank you, everyone, for all the replies, this community is so nice!
maybe the extra LED that I already ordered can be used to modify the tank or something in the future! thank you!

I think I may have to get the M2 MG for my Merkava, too.
"You need to buy an upgrade M2 Machine gun part on top of the tank and it will flash a light when firing." Hey, I am way ahead of you on mistakes, dumb moves, memory slips and so much more. It's part of the fun of this and other hobbies. Here's a good one for you: on Tuesday just past, one of the regular Make Modeling Mediocre Again gang that meets at my home was pestered by a fly. The daunted modeler finally lost his cool and lashed at the fly with his dirty paint rag. A direct hit! He smashed a paper engine he was building and part of his Tamiya 1/35 FAMO. (The fly is still around pestering me.) Were we supportive and sympathetic? Heck yes, we laughed and laughed.

Hello and welcome. We all make mistakes, which is half of the fun of learning about these models. Me? I ask properly dumb questions, which are answered with good grace from some really cleaver, and skilled people on this site
