Hello, I'm very new to RC tank here!

Post by mochiP »

Hello, nice to meet you, you can called me Mochi.
I'm interested in tank, war machine, hardware in general.

One day I stumbled upon HL RC tank video in YouTube and I thought this is super cool so I suddenly want one, end up I've bought the Henglong Merkava MK4 (7.0) and it's my first RC tank ever.

However I have some problem with it and I have some question.

My machine gun light is not working, so I decided to disassemble it, I disconnect the cables, reconnect, check the cable throughout the line to the LED unit on the turret but I still don't find any damage, I'm not sure what's wrong with it but it's not working.

I wanna know where I can find machine LED ligjt for the replacement?

Also I found some spare part for machine gun light online but it's for 6.0, so the question is, will it work on 7.0?

Please let me know, thank you! and nice to meet you everyone!

Thank you, Mochi, for your fine introduction!
There are lots of sources for LEDs, even specific to the HengLong boards. You have made a great choice of a first RC tank.
Where in the world are you? If you give some indication (country will suffice) the wizards here on RCTW will lead you to sources and maybe even a quick fix.
When you checked the connection from the HengLong 7.0 board through the wire to the LED, did you do a continuity test and/or did you read the voltage pulse? If you did neither, no worry. This LED should be an easy and inexpensive fix.

I'm living in South Eastern Asia(Thailand), and I can get stuff from AliExpress easily!
Also, I don't have any device to check the voltage so I'm not sure what part specifically had a problem

It is possible it was installed backwards. LED = diode (one way path for voltage).

Okay, I did check and try both ways and it still doesn't work.

BUT here is some progress, I tried installing the Tank headlight cable (LED3) into the LED5 (machine gun) and firing, and the headlight blinked like a machine gun!! so now I can assume my machine gun LED is busted?
and can I just find another LED light for the machine gun?
like I said, on the website I found it said fit for 6.0, 6.1 but it looked Identical to me. Do you think just this LED can do a replacement? will it work since it's just an LED? or does it need something specific for the 7.0? Thanks!

Welcome from Ontario, Canada!
Is the tank one you've just bought? If so, I'd give Heng Long a call and see if they'll send you a replacement. Your checking it with the headlight is a great idea and good proof that the MG light is defective.
Although...machine gun headlights are an interesting concept!
Got any pics of your new ride?
Mike.

Welcome aboard and good luck fixing your tank. It would be nice if Heng Long would simply replace your defective tank.

Welcome to the Forum, If you buy a product that does not work you must return it to the store from which you bought it.
It is their problem, Except your money back or if you want to a replacement BUT you do not have to,
You are entitled to your money back. Dont try and fix it, You did not break it.
Like I already said It is the sellers problem.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

:) Hello, and welcome to this forum, you will find there, help, advice, tips and friendliness. Very competent members in all areas. For your concerns? if your purchase is recent? what seems to me? should it have a warranty? so back to the seller, to solve, if you try to tinker yourself? the seller if bad times? can say that your fault !!!
