Thank you for your succinct comments,I try and often fail to avoid being a pedant, It is reassuring to know that you can be relied on to take up the slack,
i suppose I could have listed every operation by name that were used by the German High Command with reference to Germany's invasion of Russia but I assumed most people would accept that using the name "Operation Barbarossa"I was referring to the use of German Armour in Russia through WW2 (The Great Patriotic War).
As to the Feifal Air Cleaners in Russia in 1943 on Tiger 1s, 1st SS Panzer Division while operating on Russia's Northern Front still had the system in use in November 1943, Ref Tank Encyclopedia.
A lot of people including German Soldiers serving in the North African theatre of Operations believe that they served in the German Afrika Korp long after it had been succeeded by the Panzergruppe Afrika in September 1941 then further changes of name followed right upto March 1943 and the last German had left North Africa.
But the Africa Corp is the accepted name of the whole of the German Army in that theatre by most people.
The Heavy Tank Battalions (Tiger 1s) were never in the Africa Corp but they certainly were in North Africa but most people think they were in the German Africa Corp,
See what I mean about pedantry?
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:
