Further update on the, Challenger 2 Operation Telic. Spare track hangers made, details added to the telephone box, backs of jerry cans filled, cable and winding handle added to telephone drum, thinner base made for jerry can holder. Now need to make the top of the can holder, with reversing dodah, for the centre of the tank, drums need completing, and straps and buckles will be added after paint. It will the be stripped all down for sanding and filling, ready for paint. This may not be 100%, but working from photographsit does not look too bad.

Small update on this build. An unexpected day off work has allowed a bit of work to be carried out today.

- Indicators, conduits to headlights, and front mud guards fitted.

- Front mud guard

- Side dust skirts

- Working gun lock with a bit of detail added

- Rear mud guards
Went to the trouble of making the gun lock open as well. Then found I had glued it together. I need to find some small nuts and bolts and make the little plates that join the skirts together, and make the plates that hold the mud guards in place.
Your thoughts and criticisms are welcome.
Ian

After a year of not touching this, due to house building and finally moving in, a re-start was made on this. I had got the hull to where I was happy, apart from a few small details like mirrors and fire extinguishers. A recoil gun was ordered from Toucan Hobbies, which arrived within a week of ordering. I decided to find out if it all work. Now the hull has been run, with out the turret. This time, nothing. No lights, no starting, nothing. Hopefully the new 6.1 has not failed. We will have a further play today.

"A recoil gun...from Toucan Hobbies...arrived within a week. This time, nothing. No lights, no starting, nothing. Hopefully the new 6.1 has not failed." Yikes! I am interested in two matters: 1) that you get that HL 6.1 working again and 2) how you install the gun with recoil, as I have exactly the same for a T-72.

Sorted the none running matter. There was a dry solder joint on the main switch. So robbed one from the old 6.0 that came with it.
Mine was a straight swop as it came complete. It is not, very realistic, as it is slow on the inward stroke, and fast on the return. Some of the plugs will need swopping out to maintain the machine gun, and the battle system. The yellow and red plug goes to the CN10 BB launch system, and the plug with the two yellow wires goes to CN16 trigger.
I also have this recoil mechanism from Dave at Forge Bear, but I’ll be blowed if I can get it to work.

Any help on getting this wired, would be helpful, if is anyone has installed this type of recoil? Or have I cocked up and should have purchased the cannon smoke as well? I will also post in Heng Long electronics.

The tri-colour cable should go into CN7 in your 6.1s board. That will energise the recoil.

The 6.1s wiring layout is in here too.
The cable that runs from the microswitch is redundant unless you are running the barrel smoke system.

Thank you.
I tried it in CN7.
Servo works fine in the gun lifting port, so the servo is good. Plug it into CN7 and there is a small amount of movement on plugging in then nothing. I am thinking it might be a faulty board.

Try plugging it in the other way round. I cant remember which way/side the yellow & brown wire should go.
It will fit both ways as there is no 'key' to orientate the servo plug.
Its got me before too.

Thank you all for your help. I now have a working recoil. As stated by Mr Bix it need a jumper wire in CN6. That could be something they put in the instructions.
