Hello,

Welcome to the world of those who know about HL and CO

You shouldn't expect engineering knowledge from toys

Quite seriously, some expect the unexpected for 100-200 euros.

Incidentally, Tamiya also has to be upgraded a lot.

with kind regards,Guido

i do not usually buy RTR Tanks but when I do I will run it once to check it is what it is advertised to be and if all is well I strip it down and start to build MY Tank and if it comes with faults it goes straight back to the dealer.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

Janice is right. However, I expect to open and adjust fittings in all new RC tanks regardless of make. Warranty conditions aside, l see this as a part of the hobby so enjoy the process. It also gives you a chance to adjust gear meshing and lubricate moving parts.

I know we shouldn't NEED to do this but HL is typically far cheaper than the competition so l cut them some slack. I suspect that many sellers fit upgrade parts themselves so the quality of the factory build process varies.

Try looking at it like this. One of the pleasures of buying a RTR model is stripping it down and rebuilding it to your own standard!

Hi Dai,

Does the tank have a Slip Ring to allow 360 degree rotation?

Just ordered couple of wires set from Taigen so I can move the MFU to a better location. Dai
Hello Dai
The cables that you ordered have only JST XH plugs. I can't see in this cable set any black 2.54mm 2 pin plug for LED's. I also see there an 8-wire JST which is not needed in the 6.0/6.1 MFU version. But that's even better. If you buy a few white JST 2 PIN plugs - you will be able to disassemble this cable and build 4 sets (extension cords) with 2 wires.

My advice. Try to build a connector ( and extension also ) that will allow you to quickly and easily disconnect the wires from the upper hull ( slip ring ) and MFU. Take a look here:

And last thing. As I told you before - you should to like playing with a soldering iron and multimeter :)
This will make your life much easier in the world of RC tanks :)

The 6.0S MFU is fried so I had to borrow a 6.0 MFU from a T90. For 3 hours I have been trying to get the turret turning 360 w/o binding but most I get is 120. I wanted to move the MFU toward the front but the wires are too short. HL just stuffs things in there and if they bind, then tough it. Such pathetic poor engineering. I paid extra for the 360 rotation but now I barely get 120. Dai
I can see right away that your MFU is in the worst possible place. It was not supposed to work directly under the ASG / recoil ... As for the cables and the MFU mounting point, see how tight it was on my son's Leopard.

This place for the MFU is a bit better than yours because the ASG system and the tower cables do not touch the MFU, but the smoker cables were stretched to the limit. Moving the MFU to the front of the lower hull is a good solution to your problem. You can also try mounting the MFU vertically between the battery compartment and the side wall of the lower hull (but I don't remember if the cables will fit). Or you can cut out the battery compartment completely and seal the bottom of the lower full . This will give you a huge amount of space for arrangement (especially if you plan to upgrade your model to the hobby grade standard).

And I will say the same again. You will sleep better if you treat the stock HL tanks as a base for further modifications and turn a blind eye to these imperfections.

Then they will tell you how to fix it including sending new replacement parts. I live in US and it is not practical to skype at 3:00 am. If TH allows return/exchange no questions asked then they would be out of bussiness in a month. I am thinking of just order through Amazon because the return/exchange is automatic although likely TH is the seller. Dai
I know and sometimes buy from TH on eBay. As for contact and shipping, I can confirm. Their service is perfect. However, if I had as many failures as yours and I would not care about further cooperation with TH - I would consider using the PayPal Buyer Protection Program. And if the product I bought would not be 100% as in the offer (e.g. it was broken) I have 180 days to report it to PayPal and the seller has to worry about how to solve the open case positively, so that PayPal does not return the entire price paid to me, including shipping costs .... As far as I remember the PayPal rules - I would not even have to send back broken goods ...
But ... it has never happened to me so far and I have that I really like repairing :) :) :)

Yes I thought about the recent issues with HL tanks. If I buy direct from TH, no return is possible and I have to deal with the problems although they are very helpful. With Amazon return is done automatically. Dai
