Re: Tiger Engine Model
Sure looks pretty
I cannot compete at that level with a FDM printer, however things will get better once we get hold of our resin printer and get that sorted. i really hope that will be the Summer job, but we will see.

Re: Tiger Engine Model
Some laudable examples of enterprise there, all round
Fitting a scale (1/16) Tiger engine in the correct location is for static models only, I wonder?
I guess, since the actual drive is at the front, a tastefully made motor would look impressive in an RC version, with the engine hatches opened; but, I guess, space would preclude the inclusion of a smoker in the setup...

Re: Tiger Engine Model
I think the engine wins over a smoker, especially when a tank spends more time on display than running, smokers don't give the same visual appeal.

Re: Tiger Engine Model
I have had a printed engine for ages. I was going to use it in my Tiger F05 build, but it just did not fit.
If I had made it fit, there would have been a compromise to make.
Track tensioner for one.
Turret rotation unit second.
I did play with re-positioning the turret rotation, but that became a problem with hull bracing
Still would like to have an engine of sorts represented though.

Re: Tiger Engine Model
Just on that subject, i have created top engine slices to fit under the Panther & jagd engine top cover hatch see below some i made for a friend who then painted and fitted it up under the cover, the Jagdtiger has smoker underneath i think as i sliced the top cover very thin.

Can't remember if these were Taigen or Henglong.
However in my Tiger Mid year build i have opened the henglong top cover up with hinges and there is a 80% printed engine underneath which sits on top of the battery box. It will have fans and rads in the sides aswell and there will be a smoker fitted.
I did another one for a friend where the small round filters lift out and there is a switch and volume control hidden underneath

working on another setup for Panzer IV for another friend, but need to make some time to do that aswell as many other CAD models and prints we working on
Defo looks better with these in place and they are cheap, the wife could price

Re: Tiger Engine Model
I am not one for static, i am an mechanical engineer, so i like to design things to move, so i tend to only focus on parts for models that have a working life43rdRecceReg wrote:Some laudable examples of enterprise there, all round![]()

It makes it more fun and interesting for me, but also to see others bring my models to life. E.g. i build alot of artillery pieces that can work, but not many have servos, but this is why i add bearings and bushes to my models so they operate smoothly, then others can add servos to rc them

Re: Tiger Engine Model
Years ago someone was printing Maybach engine upper sections for the Panzer 4 and I tried to find them but was unsuccessful so seeing this got my interest,
I could do with at least three sets.

Re: Tiger Engine Model
Will: I have been drooling over your engine models throughout--well I wish I could just get one of everything you make. (
can I do modeling and RC when I move to San Diego to live in a cardboard box under a bridge?)
Regardless, this interested me: "I build a lot of artillery pieces that can work." Now for printed models, that's some engineering. KABOOM!
