In the 1/10 RC race car market Tamiya is at the cheaper end of the market so they are able to be competitive. The problem was that in the RC tank market there was no competition until HL came along and, at that time, HL didn't pose a threat. Too late now?
More like 400-800.
You must tell me where you shop Tom!! Most examples l see full option are twice as much. I say full option to compare like for like with HL, Taigen, Torro etc.

I've just bought a Soviet T-90 with steel gearbox etc for £175 from my favourite UK retailer so it could still be a while before l can afford even cut price Tamiyas! I do miss the build though.
Timetunnel Models in the UK can get parts as well but they rarely have stock even if you can find it on their site, so best to look the part number up first and email them - and then prepare for a long wait if they have to order it specially. Their prices are definitely in line with MSRP as well...

I've used Tony's Tamiya Parts and Time Tunnel many times for Tamiya race and truck parts and both are very good. Tony will get parts direct from Japan if necessary. Anthony is at antony@tonystamiyaparts.co.uk.
