The two wire trigger switch only initiates the sound of the gun and the track recoil, and connects as per your diagram directly to the MFU- so ignore that
So I re-wired the tank:

orange and white to provide current to turret elevation

green and brown to provide current to turret traverse

blue and black to provide current to the front hull LEDs

I connected the blue wire and the yellow wire (from the 8-pin connector) to the airsoft motor. Voltage remains 0 unless I move the elevation up and press the fire button, then it goes to 8v.

I removed the 2-wire trigger mentioned in the quote above.

Now everything works BUT the Elev 8O

This is driving me crazy. It was working and even now I get 7.3v from the yellow and blue wires, but when I connect the elev motor I get nothing. I can disconnect the motor and put a 3.6v battery on it and it runs in either direction, but as soon as I hook it inline...nothing.

The only things I've really changed from my original setup was:

connected the blue wire and the yellow wire
and
removed the 2-wire trigger

Gun shoots, turret rotates, just no elevation.

I've just lifted this from a Youtube video where Erik modifies the Airsoft setup work with the TK22 board, but it also has the effect of separating the elevation and airsoft circuits. Maybe it might help if you check the video out...

Hey tankers!
Ok so a lot of people have been asking about the Clark TK22 board and how to set it up for airsoft function so I decided to make a video and show how quick it can be done! 10-15 minutes should be all you need! Here are the steps:
- Download/Print out Clark's diagrams for the upper hull daughter board. This will show you where to add the wire!
- Solder on a wire to the common + (positive) near the headlights output (please refer to the first step for a picture!)
- Remove the wire going from the elevation motor to the safety on/off switch in the turret. Throw it away.
- Solder the other end of the wire you soldered in step 2 to the same location you removed the wire from on the on/off safety switch.
- (optional) If your airsoft gun fires when you try to elevate then first flip the 3 wire connector 180 degrees to see if that fixes it. If not swap the middle and outside wires on the 3 wire connector (- and +) and try again. Flip the connector if needed.
-ENJOY! ....." Unquote.
It might also be worthwhile rebinding your transmitter and MFU/RX, as the changes you have made might have impacted them. Also the bit about 'flipping the three wires' once solved an airsoft issue for me (Elevation, but gun not firing..)
here's the video:

He also does videos on rebinding and much more...
Good luck.

There's a toasted component on the board, which I'm sure has affected the gun elevation. If I can find a rev 5.3 board for cheap I'll replace it.
