It arrived with a pleasing although no better than my own efforts Paint job, I ran it and I quickly drew the conclusion that what I had was a repainted HENG LONG Tank,
Shortly after that I got out the Dremel and the ZAP 7 Debonder,
I stripped the paint and just about everything else, Replacing the cheapo gearboxes for "TAIGEN" 5/1s and stripping out the control board for an IBU2 Pro and rebuilding the body in the pattern of an early (Tunisian) Tiger 1.
I also replaced the PLASTIC tools for Metal tools.
I like the wooden box it came in but the Tank with or without the box was not worth the extra it cost over that of a Heng Long Tiger 1.
I conclude with the word DISAPPOINTED.
Shaun.
That's just what I was hoping would not be the case but surely the extra metal part must of made it feel and react more realistic with the extra weight and all.

It's a hard decision for me as there is no shops near me that I can go and see just what to expect let alone what model tank to get .

You are of course correct it does feel sturdier, and the inertia created by the extra weight certainly stops the unrealistic bounce of an all plastic Heng Long Tiger 1, but the downside is that as the Tank gets heavier the more it needs uprated and therefore more expensive ancillaries,
Such as a metal hull, metal turret, metal barrel, metal wheels, metal tracks, proper metal gearboxes and bracing to avoid twisting of the hull, you will also need a larger capacity battery.
Remember everything I have listed is available as separate upgrades or can be found as standard for less although not much less money with a "TAIGEN" Tiger 1,
You won't get the wooden box though.
The one thing I really do like with the Torro Tiger 1 is the BODY/HULL quick release but that is also standard with the Metal hulled Taigen Tiger 1.
Shaun.
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

I can thoroughly recommend the Taigen metal Tiger 1 (early or late version)
It's not super detailed as per the excellent modelling of members here but it is of a high standard.
I love mine.

I must admit it's all a bit confusing when it comes to the choosing a tank indeed the toro do look like a heng long tank but they are different in there actions and the taigen seem to be on par with torro except the turret and suspension and chassis are metal although they say chassis more like the bottom plate is metal and not forgetting the gearboxes but that said is a great piece of work and I cannot wait to get one Evan excited but didn't want to buy a torro the find its a taigen in a fancy box.
Is there any difference in the sound systems on the torro taigen or are they the same as the controller looks identical just with a different sticker.
No, no difference in the sound.

Having just received a Torro Jagdtiger I can confirm that the Taigen tanks I have match Torro in quality and considering the Torros are on average around £100 more expensive for the sake of a wooden ammo box to carry it in in my opinion Taigen are better value.
But you can't get a JT from Taigen.....

Tiger 1 Mid Torro,
Tiger 1 Late Taigen,
King Tiger Taigen (P)
Jagdtiger Torro
King Tiger (H)
King Tiger Torro (H)

Glad your Jagdtiger arrived. Yep, I will agree. My metal Taigen Tiger 1's are on par with the Torro KT that I have. I've been into rc tanks for a couple of years now and have seen a big improvement in their quality. I'm really looking forward to their 76mm Sherman hitting the battle field.

Ben, you say Panther tiger. If you mean what is referred to as a Pantiger, leave it in the store. Buy either the Panther G or F, or a Tiger1, or one of the others you mentioned. All fine tanks. You can recognize the PANTIGER by it's very flat front fenders.
