Hi Alpha.
Thanks for the advice, I am thinking of changing the whole system over to my trusty " radiolink system dirt cheap
and reliable . i may yet, add a clark t22. (I will get my mother in law to buy it for me for xmas. !!)
its all in the melting pot at the moment, no rush.

What a totally unhelpful piece of advice it turned out to be. Please also ignore rest of my comments as probably deemed inaccurate and of no useful contribution to post thread.

Back the WadsworthJ post, don’t bother with my suggestion of asking for any used TK22 in the wanted section.

The big advantage with anyone wanting to do mods is that the main contenders in aftermarket electronics, eg IBU, Clark and Elmod not only provide servo recoil support, they completely transform the tank and give great sounds and infra red battle functionality. Modifying the recoil, and then swapping out the RX18 at a later date is lot more bother than fitting aftermarket electrics and a servo in one go.

OH...if you are going to go in that direction...yeah go for aftermarket ...they are much more compact than the HL

There are thousands of cheap tk22 s to be had, there is this guy in Siberia, flogging them of cheaply.

Actually it is a relay which cuts power to the motors when you fire so you don't get the track recoil.
If your not into IR and using the older RX18 & FM receiver, it is possible to use 2 RX18 connected to the same receiver. 1 RX18 purely powers the tracks, the second does everything else. This one is great for firing on the move as the motors are still powered when firing.

Anyone try fitting a complete Taigen Recoil and flash unit into a new Heng long 2.4 GHz bb tank and what problems did you have getting recoil and flash to work, how did it connect to the circuit board, did you need to solder wires etc?

if your going to go with an aftermarket board and use a servo for recoil the cheapest option would be to get a bb unit from Dave and mod that to take the servo.
The bb barrels are shorter so need a short extension peice but its easy to do.But appart from that its just a matter of cutting the casing and jobs done.
ive got a hl kv1 modded the same running on an ibu.If you want send me a bb unit and i'll send my modded one to you.
