Hey Tom, I tried to educate myself about motors (learned a bit but mostly got more confused!) and you should take a look at this chart. This is what I used to learn how they rate these things so I could buy the right motors. It's the buying part that's difficult because finding exactly the motors you want turned out to be tricky. At the time I wanted 360 motors (for small size) but I wanted very high torque and the motor I really want and am still looking for is the RS360SH-2885. It had the best torque ratings and I think I came close with the 360 motors I got on ebay but they seem to have too much rpm to be 2885s. The specs for Mabuchi Motors are the ones you want so check out this chart and then if you get ambitious try google and let me know what you think. Maybe I'll get lucky and you'll unlock the whole mystery for me.tao wrote:these 4:1 from dominque come with 380 motors ...promax 480's any noticeable difference?
Hi Paul, yes, you are absolutely correct. But the torque is also lost. The motors need a specific voltage to operate at their peak as you know. I'm going to try the motors (395's) that I got from Banebots. They have served me well in my Jagdpanther. It was unable to turn on my carpet when delivered from rctank.de, now, nothing holds it back.scalawag wrote:Hi jtracks,jtracks wrote:I've put the V-2 4 shaft boxes in my Torro KT. If you have an IBU2 then you should be able to reduce the speed of the drive motors using the board settings. On the micro SD card open the IBU2.ini file. you should see a line which reads
PowerMotorScale=100
the figure at the end is a percentage of full power which will be sent to the motors. Reduce this figure and the speed is reduced.
Thanks Gary. I'll do the motor change first, I believe it will solve the problem. I am also going to try a different TX and Rx. My Taigen tanks running with the IBU2 and either a Futaba or Tamiya radio system seem to work best as compared to my CT-6 radios.Max-U52 wrote:Joe, would you like to try those brass gearboxes in the KT? If so, I have the proper axle shafts and I'd be more than happy to send you a pair (no charge). I seem to remember the ones you bought have 48mm axle shafts? Anyway, I have extras for both 48 and 58 so let me know if you need some.jtracks wrote:I've put the V-2 4 shaft boxes in my Torro KT. It's still too fast as far as I am concerned even with the IBU2.
