Hi Alpha,
Yep I know what your saying I fly fixed wing and helicopters so yes your right . The stock system on the tamiya's is not too good it works ok but you have to know when to stop with the EV stick. I have broken SO many of the small plastic operating arms in the past so now I always change to the metal ones. The problem is there is too much play in the gears to help this you ether changs the cog or super glue the cluch part to the gear wheel. Or remove the gearbox all together and fit a servo system. Brian...

Personally never glued any of the clutches I have and broken no parts either but I did swap out the plastic for metal arms.

Hi - you mentioned servo. Is this a straight swap? Will the servo just plug straight into the tamiya unit (after changing the connector)

Hi,
No the servo plug is not the same as the plug on your EV motor/gearbox. You will have to remove the tamiya EV motor and make a bracket for the servo!! I have 12 tamiya FO tanks and never had to replace the gearbox with a servo. The only Tam tanks with a servo are the Leo 2A6 and the new type 10. If you look on Dave Forgebear site on eBay he has them there about £5.00 +post. Hope this helps. Brian...

http://www.axels-modellbau-shop.de/kata ... :3004.html

Pretty much get everything from them these days. Same or better prices than UK shops, same delivery costs, same time to deliver.

Wiring wise you should be able to Muscles...most servos are three pin...you might have to fabricate the mount for it...but that's pretty easy...they sell servos on Ebay....have a wide range to choose from...I would get the newer metal geared servos...high speed ...no kicking back like how yours does....and usually includes the actuators ;)

Hi - thanks. I'll try it then. I have a few servos already.
I balanced the main gun last night. I placed a big chunk of lead on the elevation arm as that's the only place I could find for it. It still clicks on the up travel when it hits max.
I need to braid the wires as well to tidy them all up. I think I need a whole day to get this tank perfect! ;p

Hi Brian - thank you. I'll have a look. I had a quick look on his page last night on my phone but all I could see was parts for henglong and other tanks. not Tamiya.

It kind of sounds like that servo is shot...like either the gears or the pinion has a crack in it causing it to slip....personally I'd replace it

Good Luck Muscle

PS.Did you get your KT yet? ...are you going to trade or keep it :shifty:
