That yellow Tiger above, was modelled on the Bovington Museum Tiger - plenty of them are. So it's from the 504 battalion, not the 501.
But, there were identical Tigers on the Eastern Front as well.

You could paint it for the Ukraine, Sicily or Tunisia in a greenish-brown camouflage, just like the one in the museum today.

The problem with that Mato all metal tank is if you want to change something, well, you'll need some very heavy duty tools. The Mato all metal Panzer III and Stug is meant to be a very good tank but the Tiger not so much. It's a HL copy in metal and has all the intrinsic faults. That and it costs more than a new Tamiya Tiger!

Personally if budget is a problem, get the cheapest in the Taigan range, if not then the Taigan is OK but in respect to Tigers, the Tamiya is the best of the bunch. If you were buying a Panther or Sherman then you might get a different answer.

Ukraine? When did the Nazi manage to invade that country and why? 8O
Tank Kursk battle and most of other West front WW2 battles took place inside former Soviet Union, even after the split of Ukrainian Soviet republic in 1991 Kursk remains the territory of Russia :-) Can you post a picture of this greenish-brown camouflage please?

So Mato only makes fine-detailed Panzer and Stug models?
Cheapest Tamiya sells for $700 on ebay - the lowest I've found so far... That's about the same as all-metal pre-built Mato costs. I did not find any used 300 UK Pounds Tamiya Tigers yet...
Plus at least a few weeks of assembly and more $$ for airbrush, compressor and paints.
Does Tamiya have all-metal bottom hull and suspension? Tracks seem to be plastic. I tried to find pictures but it's not clear.

My mistake... the German armies invaded where the modern Ukraine is, but these particular Tigers were to the north of that; near Orel.

This is how the first Tigers of s.Pz.Abt.505 were painted. They were the same type as the one we discussed earlier.

I would forget the Mato Tiger 1.

I warned one of my friend about the tank but he went and got one anyway.
Believe me when i say he was very disapointed with it and sold it on ebay

All the over mato all metal tanks are great but the tiger 1 is not.

Thanks! Sadly the seller does not specify shipping to the US. I don't have anyone in the UK to reship it t me...
Is this all I need to be happy?

You're in the US Toshik?....there are many many many US sellers on EBAY..that sell both the Taigen and HL models...the advantage to Taigen is you really don't have to mod the Hull...The Heng Long though vastly improved...has yet to redo their turrel location...Tamiyas are good ...perhaps the best Tiger out there...but you really won't find one for less that 3 or 4 hundred ....even for ones that aren't running...that's when cost is an issue
It really depends on you...your budget...and how deep you want to dive into the hobby....as all the brands have their places...with that said...they all have their flaws as well

Bottom line...IMO..go with the low end Taigen...if you dig the hobby...upgrade it ;)

The Tamiya has a metal hull insert, all metal suspension. Tracks are plastic though. The Taigan system is a copy with inside a HL body.

I'd really avoid the Mato all metal Tiger. It's not well modelled, has mechanical deficiencies and that weight will murder gear boxes and battery life. Plus its really very exoensive. If you want prebuilt and painted I'd get a Taigan.

BTW Ukraine was invaded, a good deal of fighting happened in Ukraine. See the battles of Kharkov, Kiev (all 3 of them), seige of Sebastopol etc. Manstein spent most of his fighting retreat in Ukraine. There was even a Soviet army named as a Ukrainian front. Kursk was just one battle among many. Ukraine saw more fighting and more dead than most other countries buy a proportion of its size and population.
