Hello Mike...It is actually easier if you just go with the captured turret...it usually includes a bunch of extra bits...going that route will widen your options..as you can always convert the captured to a normal KV2 turret by acquiring the periscope domes and cover the hole left by the Panzer IV hatch...If you rather go the captured route like Painless...the Turret kit includes the ammo carrier that mounts to the rear of the tank

Not to mention the captured turret is easier to find....there is a seller on EBAY...that sells the Tamiya version...but you will wait a long time...and you will have to order several different sprues to complete the turret

Good Morning, Mike,
This is a question I was mulling over back when I was deciding between a German or Russian version of the tank. I had considered buying the parts sprues from JC-RC online to build the Tamiya KV-2 turret and would have gone that route if I had went Soviet style. It would have made swapping over the electronics from a Taigen KV-1 turret an easier job than using the Juckenberg resin version. Buying the Torro KV-2 turret and making the two changes required to have it be the Soviet version was a good option as well. Alpha's KV-2 turned out so well because he stuck with it and figured out ways to make everything work in the bare interior of that monstrous, huge piece of resin. I believe that bicycle spokes were involved at one point. ;o)

Yes Mike...what Painless says is true...the OOP turret I got to work with was very High Quality...I would not be certain the Jukenburg would be as good... I was very fortunate...the castings were so good it made it a pleasure to work with...as I could tweak all the components till they worked properly

Painless...you still remember those spokes ...well they are still in there...and still work really well ..especially when I service her

Thanks guys, I will go with ordering the german KV and convert it to russian. Doesnt look too big a job

I'll try and bring mine down for the GLAD August meet. I've got most of the bits but need to do some re-wiring and also want some help fitting metal tracks (not sure how much force to apply to the pins).

That's the captured one - the Germans added the cupola.

That's the best way to go Mike...another option would be just to get the entire KV2 made by Taigen...price is not bad here in the states...not sure about the UK..and use your KV1 to do another variant

Reason I suggest this is because both the Taigen Turret and Jukenburg turrets will run you close to 200 US..which is about half the cost of getting the entire tank...I was lucky...I got my turret for a song (2nd Hand)...so it was totally feasible to do it the way I did

I'm assuming you are Using a HENG LONG for a base ...yes?...if so ...just rewiring the turret will probably not help...best to get some Taigen Internal Gear and swap it out completely ...the RXs are totally different ...if you have a Clark board or another after market ..yeah you will have to fiddle with it ...now the tracks....use a spare pin...butt it up to the one in the track...tap it with a hammer till one side sticks out enough so you can grab it with a pair of pliers ...VISE GRIPS (brand) are best...then just pull the pin out

Thanks. It's a HL but instead of plugs the turret wiring is a soldered together..... Getting new radio gear etc from Forgebear (when I stop faffing) so should all work.
