jack, I used the Taigen first as well and have to rip out the front driving compartment because I need the space. You will need to create space for the speaker as well as the battery. The servo will go in the engine compartment for sure. Clark has the same foot print as the Taigen/Heng Long MFU. The turret rotation should work with the steering, but you will have to make some kind of clutch since it will rotate more than the steering can.
You won't be able to use servo for the steering if you are using Taigen. It will have to be Clark or IBU2.
By the way, if you join the Vs tank club, you can get the gearbox for $20 USD.

I'd have to isolate the turret turning wires from the Taigen board but I'm sure it can be done. If not how much is a Clark board and does it come with the transmitter?
As for the turret and steering controls I'd use 2 separate servos, 1 for the steering and 1 for the turret but they would be wired together, the turret wouldn't rotate much. Maybe from 10 to 2 o'clock position.

jack, you can definitely isolate the two wires for the rotation motor from the Taigen MFU. Clark would run you about $100 USD and it does not come with a transmitter or a receiver. If you have a 4 channel radio and receiver lying around then you are all set. If not just stick with Taigen but then you don't have servo control. However, you can also isolate the turret elevation motor control from the Taigen unit and use that for the turret/gun rotation instead.jackalope wrote:I'd have to isolate the turret turning wires from the Taigen board but I'm sure it can be done. I was quite happy with my Taigen set-up. I only rip it out and put in Clark because I was switching everything to Clark and don't want extra radios lying around.

Here it is....... You just have to join for free and you get free shipping on all 1/24 Vs tank parts. I think I use the Tiger I but I think they are all the same.......

If not I also have a set of Sherman's you can have for cheap. It was for another project but now I have no use for it. Will sell it to you for $15 USD including shipping.

Cool thanks, I'll take are of this later.
Question, do you have any of their 1/24 tanks? I've been looking at their King Tiger for about a year and I've found It from $99-$350 (which seems CRAZY for such a small tank!) but if I could get it for a decent price I may just to give me something to toy around with when my 20lb beast is just TOO much tank.

I don't but I know that they do sell for a premium. You are better off buying a cheapo stock Heng Long KT and let people use that instead. They won't know the difference unless they try to lift them.

Re: 251 series half track tracks?
Good Morning,
I like the 1/24 scale RC tanks available from Tokyo Marui and VS Tanks. I have three of them, a Tiger 1 early, a Sherman M4A3 105mm and a KV-2 Capture version. The manufacturers offer a lot of variety and if you go with the less expensive Forces of Valor brand, you can get quite involved with IR battling and accessories. I like the high end stuff, more model like and a lot less 'rubber' plastic. Michael is right. They are as expensive as the HL tanks anymore. Parts can be had if you join a club like the one in the link posted.
regards,
Painless
