They come terminated with a different connector type and sex. You'll have to swap (solder) your originals (JST Rx18) with the crawler's connector pig tail. Or make a interface cable that goes from the crawler plug to Rx18 socket JST -crimps*. Also the crawler motors wire are very short, re-terminating the connector won't work.

Otherwise they are just 380 can size brushed motors, designed for 7.2vdc.

In a pinch you could wire nut your Rx 18's wires to the crawler pigtail.

*The JST's plugs that our tanks use will plug into those crawler JST's but you would need a male (the sex that plugs into the Rx18's female socket) to male to connect to the MFU.

Rock crawler motors are 540 motors from what I understand. So problems are

Might be too long to fit between gearboxes.
Uses a different diameter shaft so cannot use same pinion gear.
Mounting screw locations are wider so won't fix to gearbox.

But these could be engineered away if you had the time ans skill.

Next thing is running current, I wouldn't push the rx18 past 5a per motor running current. As you could well damage it. I'm not certain what a rock crawler motor pulls but I would expect larger than 5a.

Hi,

Just a few more things to confirm, apologies if any of this might have been answered before.

1) taigen and asiatam sprockets are different or the same? Do taigen sprockets fit heng long tracks?
2) asiatam sprokets fit tamiya and asiatam tracks

I also have a question about the asiatam hull - I have bought the axles and bushes for the plastic wheels, but can you use the original high level rollers or do you have to use metal ones?

Thanks

Not certain on question 1.

Question 2, asiatam sprockets only fit asiatam and tamiya tracks.

Asiatam hull the return rollers bolt through the hull so not certain if the original plastic ones will fit unless modified.

Ian,

Thanks. I have looked at photos of the plastic and metal rollers and they both look as if they are splined although the taigen is additionally retained with a nut. I can probably modify it
