I'm sure most of your questions have been answered already, lol.
I wouldn't call it hobby grade quite yet, due to the low quality of HL electronics (but they have gotten better over the years). To me it's still a "toy" until upgrades are made.
The metal upgrades are significant however and do bring it to near hobby level performance with the best HL boards.
This is the exact Tiger I started my project from. It drove pretty nice before I ripped it apart.
