Here's a daft idea, what's to stop me buying a new airsoft unit, cutting it back as far as possible and housing it in the space at the front of the Pershing.i can then link the new unit to the rx 18 and it's sorted yes?

That's what I did for couple of my tanks before I tried the diode method. I would have the "dummy" airsoft gun hook up tot he RX-18/Taigen just for the trigger switch. You will need to hook up the motor too. What I didn't like was the airsoft motor wind up and snapping sound that's why I went with the diode method.
