I'd say it's marketing strategy...the Japanese do this all the time with a lot of their products...it's to create a demand...if Tamiya does stop making the Tiger...it'll be re released later on down the road ..I'm not worried lol

I'd have to agree with you Alpha, they are more than likely testing the water to calculate the interest with how many emails protesting against it.

I bet next year they announce a new better edition Tiger 1.

I don't think they will do many improvements :haha: ....New and Improved could just mean they changed the color of the plastic :haha: :haha:

If they do though it's showing that they are starting to listen to there customer base and making a proactive change however little.

That or Yellow pigment went up in price :haha: .......Japanese rarely improve stuff due to public opinion....the Super Sherman has had mixed reviews since it's release...I think the majority has more gripes than praises for it....they haven't changed a thing lol...Tamiya's Tiger has been a proven winner for decades..Maybe they'll change the box art :haha:

Eastern Front wrote:Alpha,

Gonna have to disagree with you... sort of.. Look, Tamiya does listen to its customers, look at the vast array of 1/35 armor! Yup Tamiya released the Super Sherman, you said nothing has changed, you did look at the tank right? although the lower chassis is the same and like you said the color changed the whole turret is different. It was a way I think to release a "New" tank while they focused on a "Real" new tank, that being the Japanese MBT. Still I agree the Tiger was released as an early version and I agree the changes are subtle, still they are changes... I bet if they released a Panther "A" or "D" you would hear no one complaining, especially me. I will agree with others that the tanks are slow to come, they (Japanese) do listen to their customers, look at the automobiles, electronics etc. I get frustrated waiting for a new tank, but I will always wait because the Tamiya's are well worth it!

Cheers!
I like the Super Sherman...never knew what all the griping was about lol....and yes Tamiya does have a vast array of 1/35 th scale armor...some of which were discontinued and re released..the one's that were re released are still the same lol..but you never know Eastern...they may do to the Tiger what they have incorporated in the New Type 10...I doubt it...but it's possible ;)
