Hi, It looks to me that your replacement gun is way out and was never intended to fire BB's or
even recoil. The picture below shows a PzIV with the long barrelled 75mm. The mantlet is
welded to the recoil housing, and an armoured tube is welded to the recoil housing. The barrel of the gun
recoils into the armoured tube.
Mind you, if you can get yourself the correct diameter and thickness of tube, you could do
a good working replica.

i went to b&q they had brass & plastic tubing but not the size i wanted also went to homebase nothing there have found model shop in a side street will try there at weekend not holding out much hope

I just noticed this discussion, if you are not happy with the barrel Raven you can return it for a refund.  I hadn't realized there was a problem with these but if there is I won't be ordering any more from my supplier.

raven can you tell us what size the o.d of the barrel is the thicker part?

hi steve the problem is there is no coller on the barrel its ok ill try to mod it its just i cant find the right tubing yet

was in model shop today looking at brass tubing tried 3/8 to small then 13/32 just bit to big if i had a grinder i could shave a bit off

hi my p4 wont be firing bbs is it ok to take out the firing led and just fill hole
