Turning off vegetation is a very standard graphics option to increase FPS on older machines. Disabling that would make for a more fair game, yes. However, that would open the door to third party mods to remove vegetation, giving 'cheaters' an unfair advantage again.

It's not an easy dilemma to solve. WoT has it solved by implementing a clunky spotting 'system' where the server decides what you can and can't see. I won't claim that's the right solution, however this system does allow for things like camouflage skills and equipment and vision control skills and equipment to be implemented.

I think both systems have their faults and merits, both are far from perfect.

I'm a WoT player, wellknown on the NA server (even though I live in the Netherlands) for my guides about gameplay mechanics. I've been playing WoT for three and a half years now. If WT had been around when I started playing WoT I really don't known which game I would've settled on. However, I've sunk so much time in WoT now and have so much unlocked that I'm not going to leave WoT for WT. I'm also in the closed alpha for WoWS and can only say that it's going to be great.

That said, I will fully agree that Gaijin have made an amazing game, and I wish them all the best. Which game is 'better' is impossible to answer. It all comes down to personal preference. WoT is very arcadey, WT is much more realistic even in its arcade mode. Neither is objectively better or worse.

It's a good time to be an online tanker. The competition WT and WoT have will only ensure that both developers will strive to improve their games to 'win' the contest. In the end, the real winners are us-the-players.
