Crispy wrote:Thanks for that discription Alpha, helps me plan my build. So is it possible to sit still for a while building up smoke and then nail the throttle and get a nice big cloud out the back as you move off? That's what I'm aiming for. I'm thinking to remove the pump and build a smoke box around the existing box. Wire the fan into the old pump electrics and maybe include a simple flap valve to stop the smoke leaking out when the fan isn't running.
No problem Crispy... as an answer to your question...the only way that will happen is if you put a booster fan on it as you describe ... those pumps just don't rev up fast enough the throw out a bunch of smoke... what's in the chamber will come out ...but not how you might imagine... I think they work well though... and for some reason are ten time quieter than the stock smoker ...so you don't get that whining pump sound :D

Good Luck..have fun with your build

I posted a thread on this forum, a couple years ago; about using a fan to boost the smoke output of a H.L. smoker...

The fan mod works a treat, did it on my sherman.
