Thanks Alpha, I agree that any hobby should be enjoyed and if it is not enjoyable one should not do it. That said I enjoy getting it as close to reality as possible. Maybe there should be a "fantasy forum" added to the list. As I read through the many builds on the "Masterclass" forum they are locked from comments, it would be helpful if the build thread was posted with it so one could go back through the process. In general looking through the various forums and build threads and I notice very few comments explaining mistakes or highlighting shortcomings as most comments are positive but offer little guidance for the builder. I assume this is the result of people not wanting to "upset" the builder or they don't really know what is correct.

I look at every model as either a learning opportunity or a waste of time and money. If people are afraid of leaving honest feedback for those who are are still learning (we all are) how are they going to get any better?

I don't want to be the only guy who points out flaws as that makes me look like the asshole of the forum and I'm not and don’t want to be. I hope everyone wants to learn like I do.

Jnewboy, I really do not think that ALPHA's work need be in a particular forum, for the build is I hope judged on more than historical accuracy, Indeed ALPHA's work is unique and fills a niche that in truth did not exist before he joined, I think of the Masterclass like this, if a ten year old member of the Forum submitted a build against a builder in their fifties with thirty years experience, patently the quality of the young persons work could not match the other build, and so what, it is what has gone into it from the soul, if it was only judged on historical accuracy the person with the biggest pocketbook and the best workshop would win, we surely need the whole spectrum of endeavour represented, I should like to make an exception to my comment about separate classes, there should be one for members of the Forum who do not actually offer photographic evidence of their talent, modesty prevents me expanding the point :haha: shaun
I think I am about to upset someone :haha:

If this is directed at me I understand and expect it, I am new here and to 1/16 scale but not to large scale modeling or fine scale for that matter but I dont pretend to know everything and dont want to come off like I think I do. Sorry if I did. Here is the last tank I did and a link to the video for more pics if anyone is interested.

And rightly so, however this is hardly ever the case. I have seen models; especially on this forum and other 1/16 armor forums that must have cost a fortune considering they bought all the right parts and still it looked rather poor as one cannot buy talent or practice. I make my parts when I can unless I cant build it or there is a very affordable aftermarket fix. Having the best workshop is not a bad thing, it means you are dedicated and take it seriously, after all you cant just "buy" a workshop, you have to know what to buy, what works for you, it all comes from lots of experience. Having a large pocket book is also a plus in my opinion, especially in this hobby or RC planes. Your hypothetical 10 year old should be congratulated and encouraged to keep building but should told what they did wrong so they can become better and better, not be promoted as the winner because of his age or lack of experience, what would that teach him?

The realm of fantasy has been around for a long time and I enjoy seeing what people create! I love paper panzers but there are so many that are not based on anything except imagination that I think they should be in their own category, it would save the countless posts of "is that real" or "was that built". Obviously ALPHA's paint jobs are not authentic but I do enjoy them for what they are and a fantasy forum would be fun.

Jnewboy, It is a standing joke on this Forum that for all the time I have been a member I have never submitted a single picture of one of my Tanks, if you thought I was getting at you I offer my unqualified apologies, What in my poor explanation I was trying to do was give my opinion as to the most deserved holder of the title TANK MASTER BUILDER :D I think I must have failed, I admire every build I see on these pages and sometimes I even say so. None of us was forced to join this Forum, we are here because we want to learn and where possible teach everything about armour and r/c primarily in 1/16,This means we all have a common purpose and from it hopefully friendships blossom. that's why when a misunderstanding occurs we have a duty to resolve it straight away. So as I said I was pointing the finger at ME and nobody else, and who knows one day I might ,just might post some of my own photographs. take care. shaun

Privet Alfa, For goodness sake my hero what is it with everybody on the Forum, I think I just upset almost all the contributers to this page who have written in, I was not attacking you by the way, I was defending you!!!! and by the way great video and I was very greatful for the Spanish subtitles, unfortunately my Spanish is about as good as my Icelandic. And I suppose I have upset you over that now? You ten year old's should be in bed anyway instead of talking to foreigners ( never thought of my self as a foreigner before) take care my good and original friend. shaun
