I had a dream the other day after I posted my last set of pictures...a regal eagle adorned with crown and banner flew to me...spoke out to say... Hey!!!...I can't drop any grenades into your open vents...your grills are like armor plating :O

Suffice to say... the dream made me ponder....I stared at the work I had done... I knew the grills were a bit much when I installed them...but didn't think they were all that bad afterwards....
But after the dream.... I realized that eagle was right...as they did hide the synchronized vent covers I had made
So I set out on a quest to find a better alternative ...searched the stashes of the kingdom... then the village peddlers ... browsing through their wares...alas... I could find nothing
Worn from the search I headed home... upon bed I lay.. thinking.. then dosing into slumber.....Once again the regal eagle came to me..said "worry not... I shall provide"....NEH I replied... I must finish this quest ...and turned down the generous offer

I awoke.. a little somber from not finding any treasure....but revitalized by the eagle's enthusiasm ...I set forth once again... to the last bastion of hope...a well traveled establishment full of 2nd hand goods ..where I found a few items... but not for the purpose of the quest...round and round I went... reviewed a tea strainer... but it had not enough material ...round and round once again ... repetitiously entering and exiting isles already ventured All of a sudden out of nowhere... not one but two items appeared one with netting a little larger than the other... taking my portable magnifiers from my pocket... took a closer look...and chose the smaller of the two

This is the result of that adventure

Hopefully when I close my eyes in slumber ... that regal eagle will once again appear and say....
" HA HA!!!! I can see those vents... I'm going to drop a bomb on you" :haha:

Where am I now :wtf: ... I'm here on the current build of KATYUSHIA 2 please include the top four new photos ... as they have some of the progress in them :D

I did a little turret work... excuse the welds... my welder was a little dreary eyed

If you review all the photos ... I've plugged all the unnecessary holes and slots..added a few of the detail parts that come with the kit... the next step will be to texturize the primary surfaces .... add the remaining details...primer then paint

I found that the T34 has several different patterns when it came to the turret welds...after reviewing the images from the anime GIRLS UND PANZER... found a suitable example on this derelict T34 turret

Though I liked the idea of the raised welds... I might still remove them to make the more subtle recessed mark.. like on this T34 turret

As it would help if (god forbid) I should ever have to crack open that turret :haha: :haha:

Many of you probably know already.. but for those who don't ... I used a stiff plastic bristle automotive detail brush for the texture on the milliput

Good Evening,
Great work, Alpha. I didn't mind the first vents you had, they seemed Russian Industrial - like. *chuckles* The second set do look a lot better and show off your louver work tho' Your welds look fine. The whole Soviet thing was get them together and get them onto the battlefield! I am surprised at times that they bothered to paint them.
regards,
Painless

Greetings Painless... funny you mention that... because I read somewhere that some of the T34s left factories in primer...reason a lot of the markings are inconsistent...and look like someone with a paint bucket and brush just globbed a load of paint writing graffiti where ever they wanted :haha:

And those turrets... there were so many different patterns of welds... it just seemed like they either got the pieces from a jigsaw puzzle.. or scrap yard welded them up and said... "yup" " that's another one down the road " :haha:

Still with all that said about Soviet production line.. I think the T34 is one of my all time favorite tanks... and am so glad HENG LONG decided to come out with one
