I have done the bulk of the work on the tank so this is kind of a retrospective, the next job was painting the hull, first with the primer then the TS-3:

Last one for tonight, I wanted some periscopes so I got an offcut of perspex at local diy store, this was cut into 7x12mm sections, and painted both sides with tamiya clear green.

For the driver/radio operator and turret periscope, I cut the bottom of 7mm box styrene, then glued the glass into the U shape that resulted. I then painted the styrene ts3 to match the hull

Thought I would put some more up, should have mentioned on the last post I got the periscopes idea from Dean's King Tiger build thread .

Fitting sprockets and idlers to the completed hull:

I bought a pair of Mato idlers off tankzone, if you use the heng long metal idlers they need some custom axles making up, the mato ones need about 1.5mm cut off the end of the shaft, they then fit perfectly. I dissasembled mine and put some copper grease on them as the axles seemed very stiff.

Thought I would add a couple more:

Wheels fitted, I use a precision oiler to add a tiny drop of oil to each axle. I used glue on the little grub screws as they are so tiny if one fell out I doubt it could be found easily

Next up fitted the tracks, even with the tensioner at minimum, they still seem a little tight, perhaps I will have to add a link .

I put the top on and took a couple of pictures:

Well, I have never used an airbrush before so this won't be the best job ever, the colour scheme is (very) roughly based on fkl 316:



I don't know how to do weathering so haven't added any yet, but the tracks are naturally weathering themselves :
