I had 2. One was originally built by my grandfather, but not finished and damaged over the years, so I repainted it and fixed it up. That one was 1/200 scale.....HUGE!

The other I did more recently was the Tamiya 1/350 scale. I might go back to it and do some weathering and effects, now that i've had some practice on the Tiger.

That was a neat trick I learned from youtube. I used a piece of torn kitchen sponge and lightly dabbed different shades of brown first, removing almost all the paint from the sponge before applying. (I found acrylic works best for this, as enamels can be a bit sticky and if you apply too much it's hard to wipe it off and start over)

Once it was dry, I used the edge of a soft pencil like a B3 and just ran it around the very edge a few times until it left a good metallic shine. Then I sprayed it with Testors Dullcote. If you don't varnish it, it tends to rub off over time and looses it's shine sadly.

Are you working on a tank too at the moment?

Thanks very much.

If anyone is looking for small scale leaves for models. I got these from a company called Basecrafts in the U.K

http://basecrafts.com/

They are intended for 1/35 scale, but I think they actually fit 1/16 much better. I sprayed the tank with Dullcote and while still wet i sprinkled the leaves on and then gave it another blast of varnish to keep them in place.

thanks for that info GT. yes i am currently doing a tiger1 of the 4ss pzr rgt No 411 in winter camo. it's going to be a slow build due to money restrictions but so far have re done the air filter tubing to a duller plastic type, fitted headlight wiring, made and fitted metal hatch handles and made metal step and hand grab for the front of the tank. this is my first build in this scale so i am learning all the time.

Sounds like it's going to be a detailed build. I'm the same, restricted by budget. This has been a year in the making, buying parts along the way.

Be sure to stick up some pics as you go. It'd be great to see it come together. I wish I had taken step by step pics on my build, but my camera was out of action sadly and my camera phone is from the dark ages!

Good luck with your build
