stripped gear on one side WSN T34/85

Post by dgsselkirk »

:wtf: Hi guys,

Before I start prying away at things I thought I would ask...
I have a WSN T34/85 and one side seems to be stripped on the drive. If you pull the track a little bit the gears inside the hull don't turn on the one side and when you apply power the gearbox gears move but doesn't drive the track. So first question if anybody can help me is the safest way to get the tracks off and the safest way to get the drive wheel and housing off and what I should be looking for. I see replacement metal gears for this tank but I see some guys saying replace the whole gearbox with HL low profile motors like the Panther motors and gearboxes. Relative newbie at this so go slow! Looking forward to hearing from the experts on here :wtf:

Its a problem with the t34 you have to strip the gearbox out to get the final drive ans drive sprocket off when the gear in lilys went we replaced half the gears with metal ones I have been told if you change them all the make a racket but lilys has been fine ever since you can get the track off by knocking out one of the pins but its a bit of a pig to do iv never tried heng long gearboxes in one so I can't comment on that I hope this bit of info helps and good luck :D

Thanks Stug,

I figured to knock one of the pins out but you are right, they are a pig! 8O I tried a couple last night to see if I could find one remotely loose and did not. If you have had no issues since replacing perhaps I will try that first as the metal gears are relatively cheap. Thanks for the info! :D

If you look at the front idlers , on the inside of the hull there is a screw , undo it then slide the whole assy out. You will find a pin and a set of holes to adjust track tension makes it easier to get off the tracks

Thanks guys, got it solved. I didn't tear it right down. I found if I epoxyed the last gear wheel to the final drive shaft and it didn't slip anymore so works great now!
