tiger 1 late wheels
hi fellow modellers,i was wondering has anyone tried to fit a set of taigen/asitam late metal wheels to a 1/16 heng long tiger 1,i have been told it cant be done ,apparently you need the asitam lower hull to do it,so i was wondering why dont they fit and is it possible, thanks

Re: tiger 1 late wheels
the only thing I can think to do is a set of heng long metal arms for the tiger drill a 3mm hole in the base of the arm and tap out with a die and grub screw them like the asiaitam might work
any more ideas

Re: tiger 1 late wheels
I think the axles are too short when iv fitted heng long wheels to an asiatam hull iv had to shorten them as heng long use the axles as stops for the suspension

Re: tiger 1 late wheels
the axles are not long enough on the taigan wheels as stug says the hl axles also act as a stop they go into the hull to sit properly, its a bit drastic but have you tried to seperate the wheels remove short axle and try to fit the longer taigan /hl axles and trim to fit? otherwise its the taigan /asiatam hull ,forgebear or wdm ? wot wot ....

Re: tiger 1 late wheels
I don't believe the wheels discussed above will fit the Tamiya Tiger without work - but I would like to be wrong!
It's also worth mentioning that Tankzone do a set of plastic late pattern wheels which simply replace the outer half of the HL ones (which is pretty much all that can be seen with the tracks fitted).
However what is often overlooked is the fact that there are TWO types of HL Tiger 1 road wheels - each using different lengths of axle. One type has the screw showing in the middle of the hub, the other doesn't. I'm not sure if the Tankzone ones will fit both...

Re: tiger 1 late wheels
If its just a case that the later wheels have a larger hole through the middle for a thicker diameter axle...then wouldn't it be possible to fit a sleeve onto the earlier thinner axle to 'pad' it out to fit the later wheels ?.....Possibly using some brass or plastic tubing..?
