Taigen 2.4ghz flash stays on - HL ir tank

Post by Phil »

Just bought a Taigen 2.4ghz unit and tx to replace my RX18 unit in my HL Panther I.R.

Plugged it all in as per diagram with one little annoying thing, all the relative bits work, apart from the main gun flash light stays on. It all worked Ok before the new 2.4ghz swop over.

I have read about the I.r. Not being compatible with the Taigen system which I can except for now but the main flash staying on is really annoying, the gun recoils fine, all cable in the right place etc, I've pulled out the two pin connecter that the flash is connect to but I want the gun to flash when fired.

Bought a few to convert my tanks to 2.4ghz, save prob with my Jagdpanther, also tried the units I bought in my Panther with same result.

Any ideas please would be appreciated

Thank You

Hi Phil

I’m guessing this is a LED flash?

From what I understand the 2 pin plug which plugs into the 5 pin socket to trigger the flash, recoil, sound. On the Taigen unit the polarity has been flipped on the two pins which generally doesn’t matter but as the LED flash picks up its feed from there it is been constantly powered. Try plugging the 2 pin plug in the wrong way round (to correct the polarity again) and see if that fixes the problem. You probably need to use a knife to shave some plastic off the plug to get it to fit that way.

Ian

Yes LED is the flash

Thanks for the tip, I was in two minds to do that (didn't want to blow it up)

I'll take the pins out and heat shrink, love this forum!

If this works then I going to mod the recoil after a search on here.

cheers

This wil definitely be the problem. I had to reverse the plugs on an LED equipped Sherman I bought recently. I just removed the pins from the plug and swapped them around.

The pins are easy to remove, you can see the metal connectors on one side of the plug, these are held in by a little lug. Depress the lug through this gap on the side of the plug with a knife blade and give a little tug. The pin should just pop out, and then it is simply a case of pushing them back in until the lug seats back.

Hi Guys, I joined the Forum last weekend in the hope that I could learn how to wire in my flash / recoil unit, which I have tried to do for the past months.
Well having found diagrams from various sources, I have now set my Heng Long Tiger on FIRE! Burnt out all the electrics, so now have a very nice static model of Tiger 131, the pride of the local Tank Museum which I attend regularly .
Perhaps this is an indication that I should stick to what I know and continue to build 1/35 tanks.
I wish you all the best, and will look admiringly at any RC tanks that I see around the shows.

PS. I bought 2 tickets to win a Centurion Tank by Armortek at the museum today, not a good idea!
