Death Head's Late Tiger 1

Post by Death Head »

Picked up this Taigen Full Metal Upgrade Tiger 1 for a good price

I wasn't very impressed with the paint and the wrong markings, so she has to be repainted and brought up to a standard

But first.....

Done some welding with milliput

Image

Not too bad for my first attempt

Also the horrible moulded on tools had to go

Image

Shot some primer

I've still got to remove the jack block, but waiting till I get some plasticard to repair the hole left

I've also just got some metal Mato exhausts and a set of metal Mato tools to fit in place of the ones I dremeled off

That's pretty much it for now

Apart from being in hock to the bank manager the anticipation of what your planning is really the best part of our hobby, we all see our project differently and now the weeks are taken care of indeed just about every waking moment filled with thoughts of whats next on the agenda. It looks good as a start, onwards and upwards, good luck. shaun

Hi DH,

the wid an interesting tiger......

But one little thing I would like you might still recommend the Tigers might give the impression of your better.
Separate but not the side chain plates. Those were the slightly bent at the original, only individual thin sheets. Can also be seen in the picture with the camouflage pattern and then they bend just a little bit apart with heat. Many little things make a good model worth seeing.

Great WiP you have on the go and I like the tank you going to represent. What Schwere Panzer Abteilung does that Tiger belong to?

Hi DH .........

Please forgive the suggestion on your build thread , i have built up quite a lot of info on the PzAbt 101 during my build . The 1st Kompanie turret numbers at the
time of Normandy June-Aug 44 were green with a white outline , I have a few illustrations on the various Kompanies and their camo scheme's .

1St Kompanie

2nd kompanie

3rd Kompanie

As you can see the overall pattern of brown / green mix is very diffused and light in application . I have studied the real photo's of
PzAbt 101 and although black and white pictures , there seems to be a good match with these photo's and the representative illustrations .

.
Good luck with your build .

Thanks for the extra information, the paint scheme hasn't yet been set in stone yet, but I'm liking the 221 :)
