I have seen hl tanks for sale with metal black tracks and some with silver metal tracks. are they both the same or is one newer and better than the other?

Hi jimmy.......

My experience has been that purchases a few years back my Tiger 1 tracks were black , my jagdpanther were silver .
A few months back I purchased a Sherman set and they were silver , but my ZTZ99 tracks were black ! .

So the colour does not seem to be age related , perhaps they are from different suppliers ?. In the end I tend to paint
them all matt black anyway and then overlay them with brown/tan effect for weathering .

I’m not certain, as I’ve seen upgrade tracks said to be HL as black metal also. As far as I know HL ship with silver metal tracks and silver metal gearboxes, but since you can get black metal upgrade gearboxes who’s to say same isn’t true for tracks also?

Also from my knowledge/experience the black metal tracks available are the Mato versions which are painted black, not had the paint come off but found the tracks to be quite stiff and takes a lot of running in and pushing the track pins back in as the flexing tends to push them out.

I suspect the HL tanks you have see with the black tracks are the Taigen upgrades. Taigen metal tracks are black with silver highlights...
